From spoken word to sustainable change.
Four connected areas of work, each building on the one before it, all led by the communities we serve.
Language & Literacy
We work directly with community elders and speakers to design orthographies, alphabets, and dictionaries for languages that have never had a written form.
What this includes
- Orthography and alphabet development
- Community dictionary compilation
- Adult and child literacy classes
- Training local language committees
Education
Once a language can be read and written, we help communities build schooling and learning materials rooted in that language and culture.
What this includes
- Mother-tongue-based learning materials
- Scholarship and school-supply support
- Teacher training and mentorship
- Early-childhood literacy programmes
Livelihoods
We equip families with practical skills and access to resources so language and education work translates into real household income.
What this includes
- Vocational skills training
- Savings and micro-enterprise groups
- Agricultural and trade support
- Access to local markets
Health & Wellbeing
Physical and mental well-being are part of every partnership, so communities can fully take part in and benefit from the work.
What this includes
- Basic health education and referrals
- Mental-health and trauma-informed support
- Clean water and sanitation initiatives
- Pastoral care and counselling
